Dental Implants and Oral Rehabilitation
Implantology is the area of dental medicine dedicated to the rehabilitation of missing teeth, by placing implants – pieces made of titanium and zirconia which function as an artificial root to support bridges or crowns.
This is the treatment we recommend when there is a total or partial loss of our patients’ teeth. In these cases, our goal is to restore the basic functions of phonetics, occlusion and mastication. Fortunately, advances in medicine allow us to combine this functionality with natural and harmonious aesthetics, giving our patients back the pleasure and desire to smile.
In cases where there has been a total loss of teeth in at least one of the jaws, it is now possible, with the “Teeth in a day” solution, to create, within 24 hours, a new, more harmonious smile that meets the expectations and physiognomy of each patient.
Our goal is to create a lasting, complete solution for tooth loss, restoring function, comfort, and smile aesthetics.
Bridges and Crowns are prosthetic pieces crafted in Zirconia, placed over dental implants in order to restore functionality and aesthetics to our patients’ smiles. These are the solutions we resort to when you want to replace only some of the dental pieces.
The dental crown replaces only one tooth, while the bridge replaces a series of sequential teeth.
When there is a tooth loss, it is essential to treat it with implants and prosthetics quickly. As soon as there is a space between the teeth, their “neighbors” tend to “move”, which can cause tooth misalignment, chewing problems and, in extreme cases, can even compromise the bone structure of the jawbone, and it is then necessary to resort to treatments that are much more invasive and uncomfortable for the patient.
During the first consultation, the dentist in charge diagnoses the patient’s entire oral condition, using exams that allow him/her to determine exactly if the treatment using implants is indicated for the case, how many implants will be necessary and what the most suitable prosthetic pieces are.
If the implantology treatment is indicated, in the second appointment the implants will be placed, removing the damaged dental pieces first if necessary. After the healing period, the dental crowns (prosthetic pieces) will be placed, in order to replicate the natural dentition.
The “Teeth in a day” solution, also called Immediate Loading treatment, seeks to restore the functionality of an entire jawbone within 24 hours!
This is the solution when patients have a badly damaged dentition, with few healthy parts.
When there is marked tooth loss, it is very important to resort to implantology treatments quickly and effectively. As soon as we lose teeth, there is a process of bone and gum remodeling (retraction of the hard and soft tissues) in our oral cavity, which means that both bone and gums start to disappear, requiring in some cases bone and gum regenerations to replace the lost structure.
During the first appointment, the dentist in charge will analyze the patient’s entire oral cavity, using exams to determine exactly if the treatment using implants is indicated for the case, how many implants will be necessary and what type of crown (prosthetic pieces) or rehabilitation is indicated for your case.
In a second appointment, if the implantology treatment using a fixed total prosthesis is the most indicated, a digital mold is created of the patient’s oral cavity on which the implant placement and the future fixed prosthesis are planned. The digital mold (in some cases analog) of the fixed prosthesis is later sent to a laboratory, which on the same day, will deliver a provisional version of the prosthetic piece, made with materials that are more appropriate for the healing phase.
In the morning, the dental implants will be placed in the patient’s arch.
In the afternoon, the provisional prosthesis made of materials appropriate to the healing phase will be placed, and it will remain with the patient for six months.
After the end of the healing phase, the definitive total bridge will be placed, worked individually and customized to the characteristics and conditions of each patient, in order to bring long-lasting, esthetic and functional results.
